Council Appreciates Health Agency for Measles Quick Handling

The quick steps taken by the Health Agency in implementing the Outbreak Response Immunization (ORI) program to suppress the increase in measles cases in Jakarta, received a positive response from the Deputy Chairperson of the Jakarta City Council, Rani Mauliani.

Socialization must be run periodically

There were 218 measles and 63 rubella cases recorded in Jakarta during January to September 2025. The ORI program focused on the area with the highest number of cases, namely Kapuk Urban Village, Cengkareng, with a target of approximately 9,000 children. Immunization coverage has reached 77.22 percent up to today.

Pramono: Measles Cases in Jakarta are Under Control

"We appreciate the quick response run by Health Agency in cases of disease or epidemics caused by viruses and bacteria," Rani said, Friday (9/12).

Rani also encouraged the agency to intensify the socialization regarding measles prevention to prevent loss of life.

"Awareness of the importance of immunization for infants and toddlers is same as to public awareness of healthy lifestyles. The benefits are not only for individuals but also for their surroundings," she added.

Rani added that immunization refusal often stems from a lack of public understanding. Therefore, she emphasized the importance of regular socialization.

"Socialization must be run periodically and in stages," she stated.
